Haunted

the ramblings of an over-stressed, sleep-deprived teacher

11/20/09 04:27 pm

10/6/09 05:26 pm

9/21/09 06:32 pm

life is awesome.

7/28/09 11:16 pm

Just went on a date. It went well. :)

7/8/09 10:27 pm

i can't believe that i got convinced to jump back on the facebook bandwagon.

6/24/09 07:56 pm

i got a job today!

i will be teaching 1st grade at singleton charter school next year.
it will be tough; it is in a bad area of town. these kids need a lot, but that is why i am here.

i am very excited!

6/2/09 01:54 pm - table

table"

I just wanted to share the awesome table I found on the side of the road in NOLA. It's an old sewing machine table.

5/20/09 11:09 am

goodbye, mobile. hello, new orleans.

5/19/09 02:27 pm

I am so glad that after tomorrow, I never, ever, ever have to deal with ITT Tech and all of its inherent bullshit ever again.

5/13/09 04:24 pm - packing part 2

everything is now packed. all i have to say is damn, do i have a lot of crap.

4/25/09 03:40 pm - packing

packing an apartment you've lived in for four years is the suck, especially when those four years included 2 years of graduate school where you didn't get rid of anything for fear of losing something important.

packed: everything but essentials in kitchen
everything but essentials in living room
went through and packed closet under stairs, otherwise known as the black hole
all decorations bedroom

still to go: books. all the damn books.
wall hangings bedroom
clothes
bed stuff
bathroom
2 closets upstairs to go through

moving date: may 21

i can get all of that done on top of grading papers, grading finals, trying to do all of the independent work for teachnola, and trying to do all of the reading for teachnola. i hope i can anyway.

but, whoohoo, new orleans!

4/14/09 07:31 am - praxis exam

So, for the past month, I've been worrying about my Praxis test scores. In order to do teachNOLA, I had to take and pass the Praxis exam in Early Childhood Education. By their standards, I needed a 150 out of 200. Well, the test worried me quite a bit because there were four sections on it: math, science, social studies, and language arts. Mind you, I haven't taken math or science since high school, and I haven't taken a history class since undergrad. Plus, there were things on the language arts section I'd never studied before, such as langauge acquisition rates. Therefore, I studied a lot. I got my scores back today; I got a 185.

3/21/09 01:51 pm

I smoked part of a cigarette. That was a mistake; it made my lungs and stomach hurt. I won't do that again.

3/16/09 02:56 pm - i'm trying to quit smoking

i haven't had a cigarette in 24 hours. i'm ready to kill somebody/something, but i'm sticking with it.

2/20/09 12:12 pm - moving to new orleans

Well, folks, it looks like I'm moving to New Orleans in June. I've been accepted to the teachnola teaching fellows program to teach early childhood education. I am beyond excited, and it's still all sinking in.

1/16/09 12:20 pm - i've been neglecting you livejournal,

i'm sorry.

so, the boy and i went kaput. but, you know what? i'm really okay. it was a mutual thing, and we just realized that we've grown apart. i'll always have a place for him in my heart though. that's what happens when you're with someone for a year and a half, i guess.

there's a possibility that i may be moving to new orleans in june. i'll give more information on that soon.

11/21/08 10:14 pm - meme, stolen from knavit, who stole it from somone else

1. Randomly pick a song from your music library.
2. Find the lyrics for the first four verses/chorus
3. Go to Google translation and translate the lyrics from English into German.
4. Take the new German lyrics and translate them into French.
5. Take the new French lyrics and translate them into English.
6. Post the NEW English lyrics and have people guess the original song.

Hey Charlie I'm pregnant
and living conditions, 9 Route

off Eeuclid Avenue
and I stopped takin dope
I stop and Whiskey Drinkin
and my old man playing the trumpet
and works on the runway

and he says he loves me
although her baby not be
and he said that to him
like his own son
and he gave me a ring
which was supported by his mother
and it takes me Dancin

Every Time I FILL station

They contribute in your hair
and I still have that registration

but someone stole my plate
Now, what do you think of that?

Charlie Hi, I'm almost crazy
Mario has Busted
So I went back to Omaha for
People living with my

if I returned to Minneapolis
this time, if I think I'm Gonna stay ...

Is that still recognizable to anyone?

11/21/08 07:09 pm

please dear god in heaven, help me find a job.

11/8/08 07:49 pm

i am officially the world's biggest klutz. i just fell down my stairs and hurt myself. i was on the phone with the boyfriend, and all he heard was "oh fuck" and lots of thumps before the phone went dead. he called back freaking out, to which i told him i was okay, just feeling like an idiot.

but, on a happy note, alabama beat lsu! and in overtime, no less, which alabama hasn't been able to do over a team in some time. woo-hoo! 10 and 0! sec west champions!

11/1/08 05:19 pm - vote 08

while i have made my choice for president, i'm not going to shove that choice at you.

however, please consider why you're voting the way you are. if you can offer logical, conscious reasons for why you're voting the way you are, then that's wonderful. however, don't vote for someone because it's what mom and dad are doing. don't vote for someone because you can't imagine having a black man being president. don't vote for someone because you can't imagine a woman vice president. don't vote for someone because you don't like the man whose presidency is ending. don't vote for someone based on lies. don't vote based on the mudsliging coming from both sides.

instead, consider the choices for what they stand for. ask yourself if you can live with what each will do. vote for the one who most aligns with what YOU stand for. don't blindly follow someone else. think for yourself.
